SHIRT CLEANING
If you’re anything like us, you want your shirts to last a long time. This is why when you bring your shirt to Tuesdays Fine Dry Cleaners we treat it as delicately as humanly possible.
Tuesdays first classifies each shirt with a tag system. Collar stays are removed before cleaning. Each shirt is then inspected for soiled collar and/or soiled cuffs. Very soiled collars and cuffs are pre-treated before cleaning to help remove dirt and body oils.
Afterwards, shirts are separated according to colour before cleaning. The secret to a long-lasting and clean shirt is that they are cleaned with a special commercial detergent and degreaser that is calibrated to ensure that the PH level of the soaps are correct. The PH of the cleaning soap is of the utmost importance for a clean and bright shirt.
Each shirt is then pressed starting with the collar and cuffs. It is then transferred to a high tech, state-of-the-art shirt pressing machine that focuses on pressing the body and arms of the shirt. The shirt is then placed on a shirt collar former to ensure the collar is crisp and sits correctly on the neck. At this stage collar stays are also re-installed or replaced. Final inspection includes checking the buttons and replacing where necessary.
If by any chance your shirt is yellow and discoloured, Tuesdays can restore it to its original whiteness. In this scenario, shirts are treated in a specially-formulated bath for about 48 hours to restore them to “like new” brightness. This premium service requires 3 to 5 days.
